Judge George A. Miram - Professional Background & Legal Expertise

Biography

The Hon. George A. Miram (Ret.) served as a judge for the San Mateo County Superior Court in California. He was initially appointed to the Municipal Court of San Mateo by former Governor Pete Wilson in 1995. He was subsequently elevated to the Superior Court upon court consolidation in 1998.

Miram earned a B.A. from the University of California, Los Angeles. He then completed a J.D. from the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law.

After graduating from law school, Miram began his legal career as a deputy district attorney in the Office of the District Attorney of San Mateo County in 1982. Three years later, he joined the Office of County Counsel of San Mateo County, where he served as deputy county counsel for ten years.

Miram is a co-founder of the Bridges Drug Treatment Program. He has also served on the Board of Directors of the Peninsula Conflict Resolution Center, the San Mateo County Service League, CORA, and Sor Juana Ines.

He has taught administrative and labor law at Notre Dame de Namur University in Belmont.

Miram was born and raised in San Francisco. His grandparents were refugees of the Russian Revolution in 1917, and his parents were refugees of China’s communist revolution in 1949.
