Biography

The Hon. Gary Henderson is a judge for the Mecklenburg County District Court in the 26th Judicial District of North Carolina. He was elected to the bench in 2012.

Prior to his election, Henderson spent two years as counsel for the Mecklenburg County Attorney’s Office (2010 to 2012). Before that, he managed his own private practice (2001 to 2010) and was an attorney at Clawson & Staubes (1999 to 2001). During his time in solo practice, Henderson also served as a Child Support Enforcement attorney (2001 to 2009).

Early in his legal career, he was a law clerk for Hon. Robert F. Orr with the North Carolina Supreme Court.

Henderson received a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree from Appalachian State University. He then completed a J.D. at North Carolina Central University School of Law in 1999.

Henderson was admitted to practice in North Carolina (1999) and South Carolina (2000).

He is registered as a Democrat.
