Judge Frederick F. Mumm: Professional Background and Legal Expertise

The Hon. Frederick F. Mumm is a U.S. Magistrate Judge of the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California, Western Division. He was appointed to the District Court in 2006.

Judge Mumm received his B.S. from the University of Virginia in 1976. He went on to earn his J.D. from the College of William and Mary in 1979.

Mumm practiced as a partner at Walter, Finestone, and Richter before becoming associate general counsel for CBS Broadcasting Inc. in 1993. Then, in 1999, he joined Davis Wright Tremaine LLP, where he practiced as a partner until his appointment to the District Court in 2006. While at the firm, Mumm specialized in intellectual property, media, and entertainment litigation.
