Judge Eugene D. Faughnan - Professional Background & Legal Expertise

Biography

The Hon. Eugene D. Faughnan is a Justice of the Broome County Supreme Court in the Sixth Judicial District of New York. He was elected to the Supreme Court bench in 2014.

He is registered as a Republican.

Justice Faughnan received his B.A. from the State University of New York at Albany in 1987. He went on to earn his J.D. from Syracuse University School of Law in 1990.

Faughnan began his legal career as an associate at the law firm Hinman, Howard, and Kattell LLP in 1991, and in 1997, he was named a partner. During his tenure at Hinman, Howard, and Kattell, Faughnan served as head of its Disability Benefits Practice Group.

While maintaining his practice at the firm, he then began serving as the commissioner of the Broome County Board of Elections in 2007. He held both positions concurrently until his election to the Supreme Court.
