Biography

Hon. Eugene A. Gasiorkiewicz is a judge for the Racine County Circuit Court in the Second Judicial District of Wisconsin. He was elected to the bench in 2010.

Prior to his election, Gasiorkiewicz had managed his own private practice (1995 to 2010) and also presided as a commissioner for the Racine County Circuit Court. Before that, he was a partner at Hanson & Gasiorkiewicz, S.C. (1979 to 1995) and an associate at Schoone, McManus & Hanson, S.C. (1974 to 1979). Gasiorkiewicz also presided as a municipal judge for the Village of Wind Point.

He became a certified trial specialist by the National Board of Trial Advocacy in 1984.

Gasiorkiewicz received a bachelor’s degree from Regis University in 1972. He went on to complete a J.D. at the University of Mississippi School of Law in 1974. He was admitted to practice in Wisconsin (1974) and Mississippi (1974).

After graduating from law school, Gasiorkiewicz began his legal career as a law clerk to the Hon. L.A. Smith, Jr. with the Mississippi Supreme Court.

He is a past president of the Racine County Bar Association. Gasiorkiewicz sat on the Racine County Jury Selection Committee, the Wisconsin Association for Justice Executive Board, and the State Bar of Wisconsin Executive Committee. In addition, he was a board member of the Racine Zoo and was vice-chair of Resources Development on its Executive Board.

From a civic standpoint, Gasiorkiewicz was involved with the United Way of Racine and has served as RASA soccer coach and Boy Scout den leader.

He was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and lived in Boston before moving to Racine, where he attended St. Catherine’s High School. Gasiorkiewicz is an Eagle Scout. He and his wife, Jana, have two children.
