Judge Erin C. Connelly: Professional Background and Legal Expertise

Biography

The Hon. Erin C. Connelly is a judge for the Erie County Court of Common Pleas in Pennsylvania. She was elected to the bench on November 5, 2019.

Prior to her election, Connelly worked for the Erie County District Attorney’s Office since 2003. She started as an assistant district attorney, rising through the ranks to become Chief Deputy District Attorney in 2017. During her tenure there, she conducted more than 150 jury trials, prosecuting 26 homicide cases and acting as the lead prosecutor in sexual assault and domestic violence cases.

Connelly earned a B.A. in criminology from Indiana University of Pennsylvania in 1999. She then completed a J.D. at Duquesne University School of Law in 2003. As a law student, Connelly was a legal intern for the Pennsylvania Office of the Attorney General, the Juvenile Section of the Allegheny County District Attorney’s Office, and the Office of General Counsel for the Department of Corrections and the Department of Education.

Her memberships have included the Pennsylvania Bar Association and the Erie County Bar Association. She also sat on the Board of Protection from Abuse Coordinated Services.

Born and raised in Erie, Connelly resides in Fairview Township with her husband, Erie Police Lieutenant Bill Marucci, and two step-daughters. When not presiding over legal matters, she has volunteered with Books for Kids, the Wills for Heroes Program, and the Attorneys and Kids Together Program.

She is registered as a Democrat.
