Biography

The Hon. Erin A. Fennerty is a judge for the 2nd Judicial District Circuit Court of Oregon. She was appointed to the bench by former Governor Kate Brown on September 8, 2021.

The 2nd Judicial District encompasses Lane County.

Prior to her appointment, Fennerty worked as an attorney at Luvaas Cobb, a law firm she joined in 2008. During her tenure there, she represented school districts, municipal utilities, and other clients with general civil litigation matters. She also handled domestic relations and family law cases, rising through the ranks to become a shareholder in 2015.

Fennerty earned a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Utah in 2001. She spent the next several years working as a legal assistant at Siciliano Ellis (2003 to 2005) and a paralegal at Bean, Kinney & Korman (2005 to 2006) before completing a J.D. at George Mason University, Antonin Scalia Law School in 2007.

She is admitted to practice in Oregon (2008), the United States District Court for the District of Oregon, and the United States Tax Court.

Her memberships have included the Oregon State Bar, the Lane County Bar Association, the American Bar Association, and Oregon Women Lawyers. She also taught at Northwest Christian University, and she has been involved with the Board of the Eugene Concert Choir and the Board of Womenspace.

Born in Alaska, Fennerty was raised in Astoria, Oregon. She and her husband, Erik, have four children. Erik is an operations project manager for the United States Army Corps of Engineers. When not presiding over legal proceedings, Fennerty enjoys long-distance hiking, backpacking, and camping. She is also an avid runner, having completed both the Marine Corp. Marathon and the Eugene Marathon.
