Judge Erik S. Rohrer - Professional Background & Legal Expertise

Biography

Hon. Erik S. Rohrer (Ret.) was a judge for the Clallam County District Court II in Washington. He was elected to the position in 2018. Rohrer retired in 2020.

District Court II encompasses the areas of Clallam Bay, Forks, La Push, Sekiu, and Neah Bay in Clallam County.

This was his second tenure in District Court II. Rohrer was first elected to its bench in 2002 and subsequently retained in 2006 and 2010. He later resigned from its bench mid-term to run for election to the Clallam County Superior Court in 2012. After his successful bid, Rohrer retained his seat on the Superior Court bench in 2016 before resigning two years later to run for election to District Court II.

His judicial experience also included presiding as a Family Court commissioner and pro tem judge for the Clallam County Superior Court and a pro tem judge for the Clallam County District Court I.

Rohrer received a B.A. from Western Washington University in 1980. He then completed a J.D. at Willamette University College of Law in 1985.

Before beginning his judicial career, Rohrer worked as a private practice attorney and an assistant attorney general. During his tenure with the Washington State Office of the Attorney General, Rohrer managed the Port Angeles branch and provided legal services to various state agencies, including the Department of Social and Health Services, the Department of Labor and Industries, the Department of Education (Peninsula College), and the Department of Licensing and Employment.

He was a member of the Board of Directors of the Peninsula Trails Coalition (president and volunteer trail maintainer), the Pacific Northwest Trail Association (president), the Forks Chamber of Commerce (president), and the West Olympic Peninsula Betterment Association. Rohrer was also a past chair and member of the Board of Trustees for Peninsula College.

His committee memberships included the Washington State Office of Civil Legal Aid Oversight Committee (chair) and the Clallam County Trails Advisory Committee.
