Judge Eric G. Fikry - Professional Background & Legal Expertise

Biography

Hon. Eric G. Fikry is a judge for the Vicinage 3 Superior Court in Burlington County in New Jersey. He was appointed to the bench by Governor Phil Murphy in 2019.

Since that time, Fikry has held an assignment in the Chancery Division, Family Part in Burlington County.

Prior to joining the judiciary, he spent over twenty years working as a private practice attorney. This included practicing as a partner in the Corporate Litigation practice group at the law firm of Blank Rome LLP. As such, he represented clients in various business disputes and employment litigation matters. Fikry also gained experience in the representation of companies in the casino gaming industry, including licensing and regulatory issues and litigation.

He has taught Introduction to Gaming Law at the University of Pennsylvania Carey Law School.

Fikry received a B.A. from New York University. He went on to complete a J.D. at Rutgers Law School.

He was admitted to practice in New Jersey (1996), Pennsylvania (1996), the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, the New Jersey Supreme Court, the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit, the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania, and the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey.

Fikry has held memberships with the Asian Pacific American Lawyers Association of New Jersey (past president), the New Jersey State Bar Association (Casino Law Section Board of Trustees and chair), the Pennsylvania Bar Association (Gaming Law Committee), and the Camden County Bar Association (president). He holds the distinction of being the first Asian Pacific American attorney to serve as president of the Camden County Bar Association.

In addition, Fikry sat on Blank Rome’s Diversity Committee and was selected to serve as a member of its Leadership Council on Legal Diversity Class of Fellows in 2013. He also served as co-chair of the New Jersey State Bar Association’s Diversity Committee.

Fikry received the Professional Achievement Award from the Asian Pacific American Lawyers Association of New Jersey in 2014.
