Judge Elizabeth Bingert: Professional Background and Legal Expertise

Biography

Hon. Elizabeth Bingert is a commissioner for the Maricopa County Superior Court in Arizona.

During her tenure as commissioner, Bingert has held an assignment in the Criminal Court.

Before joining the bench, she spent the bulk of her legal career in the public sector. During that time, Bingert worked as an assistant attorney general assigned to the Capital Litigation Section of the Arizona Attorney General’s Office (2020 to 2021), was a deputy county attorney with the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office (2014 to 2020), and a deputy public defender with the Maricopa County Public Defender’s Office (2013 to 2014).

She received a B.A. in history from Brigham Young University in 2007. Bingert went on to complete a J.D. at Phoenix School of Law in 2012. She was admitted to practice in Arizona (2013), the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit (2013), Illinois (2013), and the United States Supreme Court.

Bingert sat as a member of the State Bar of Arizona’s Criminal Jury Instructions Committee and Criminal Prosecution Practices and Procedures Committee. She has also held membership with the Arizona Women Lawyers Association and served as a judge for the Arizona High School Mock Trial program.

In addition, Bingert was involved with the Veterans’ Stand Down Program.
