Judge Edward D. Lukemire - Professional Background & Legal Expertise

Biography

The Hon. Edward D. Lukemire is a judge for the Houston County Superior Court in Georgia. He initially joined the bench in 1996.

Prior to his appointment, Lukemire was the District Attorney for the Houston County District Attorney’s Office.

Lukemire earned a bachelor’s degree from Mercer University. He then completed a J.D. at Mercer University, Walter F. George School of Law. He was admitted to the practice in Georgia in 1980.

After graduating from law school, Lukemire began his legal career as a law clerk for the United States District Court for the Middle District of Georgia. He served in that capacity for two years, eventually leaving to join the Houston County District Attorney’s Office as an assistant district attorney.

In 1987, Lukemire left the District Attorney’s Office in order to become an Assistant United States Attorney in the Office of the United States Attorney for the Middle District of Georgia. During his tenure there, he held assignments in the Federal Drug Task Force.

His memberships have included the Georgia Commission on Family Violence, the Georgia Supreme Court Committee on Substance Abuse and the Courts, the Georgia Child Fatality Review Panel, and the Judicial Council Committee on Domestic Violence.
