Judge E. Loren Williams: Professional Background and Legal Expertise

Biography

The Hon. E. Loren Williams is a judge for the Newburgh City Court in the Ninth Judicial District of New York. He was elected to the bench in 2014.


Williams earned a B.A. from the State University of New York at Albany in 1997. He then completed a J.D. at Albany Law School in 2004.


He began his legal career in the Corporate Environmental Programs division of the General Electric Company in 2002. Williams started as a legal intern, eventually becoming associate counsel by the time he graduated from law school.


Then, in 2005, he entered the political arena, serving as associate counsel to the Majority’s Office of the New York State Assembly.


The following year, Williams joined the Office of the District Attorney of Orange County as an assistant district attorney. He served in that capacity for four years, eventually leaving to start his own private practice as a sole practitioner.


Just prior to his election to the bench, Williams worked as a trial attorney for the Legal Aid Society of Orange County from 2011 to 2013.


His memberships have included the Ebenezer Baptist Church Mentorship Program, the Newburgh Highland Falls Chapter of the NAACP, and St. John’s Lodge #7.
