Biography

Hon. Dixie R. Grossman is a judge for the Second Judicial District Court in Washoe County, Nevada. She was appointed to the bench by former Governor Brian Sandoval in 2018.

Grossman received a B.A. in political science from the University of Montana in 1998. She went on to earn a J.D. from the University of Montana School of Law in 2001.

After law school, Grossman clerked for the Hon. Deborah Schumacher, the Hon. Charles McGee, and the Hon. Frances Doherty with the Second Judicial District Court, Family Division from 2001 to 2005.

In 2005, she entered into private practice, joining the law firms of Fahrendorf, Viloria, Oliphant & Oster, LLP (2005 to 2008) and Silverman, Decaria & Kattelman, Chtd. (2008 to 2013), where she honed her practice of family law.

Grossman was appointed to serve as a Court Master with the Second Judicial District Court, Family Division in 2013. She held this position until her appointment to the bench.

After her appointment, Grossman has presided in the Family Division.

As an active member of her community, she has served as a volunteer and provided pro bono legal services to those in need.

Her memberships have included the State Bar of Nevada, Washoe County Bar Association, Bruce R. Thompson Inns of Court, Northern Nevada Women Lawyers, National Council of Juvenile and Family Court Judges, and State Bar of Nevada We the People Committee.

Grossman was born in Williston, North Dakota, and later moved to Billings, Montana, when she was five. After growing up and attending school in Montana, she moved to Nevada in 2001.

Her hobbies include reading, baking, art, and spending time with family and friends.
