Biography

The Hon. Dimple Malhotra is a judge for the Travis County Court at Law No. 4 in Texas. She was appointed to the bench by the Travis County Commissioners in 2019.

Prior to her appointment, Malhotra was an assistant district attorney for the Travis County District Attorney’s Office, a position to which she was named in 2017. Before that, she spent time as an assistant county attorney for the Travis County Attorney’s Office (2007 to 2016) and a staff attorney for the Texas Advocacy Project (2006 to 2007).

Malhotra earned a bachelor’s degree in government and sociology from the University of Texas at Austin in 1994. She then completed a J.D. at the University of Texas at Austin School of Law in 1997.

After graduating from law school, Malhotra began her legal career as a staff attorney for various non-profit agencies in California and Texas. In that capacity, she provided legal representation for individuals seeking protective orders. Malhotra specialized in family violence matters, taking a keen interest in domestic violence or intimate partner violence issues.

She is registered as a Democrat.
