Judge Denise L. Gentile - Professional Background & Legal Expertise

Biography

Hon. Denise L. Gentile is a judge for the Eighth Judicial District Court in Clark County, Nevada. She was elected to the bench in 2014 and retained in 2020.

Gentile received a B.S. in business administration with a major in accounting from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas in 1988. She went on to earn a J.D. from California Western School of Law in 1991.

After law school, Gentile began her legal career with Dennis Sabbath & Associates, where she practiced as an associate until 1992. She briefly joined Kent J. Dawson, Chtd., until going into solo practice in 1993. Smith then became an associate with Dickerson, Dickerson, Consul & Pocker in 1999. She would later be named a shareholder of the Dickerson Law Group (formerly Dickerson, Dickerson, Consul & Pocker) in 2005. In 2009, Smith joined Jolley, Urga, Wirth, Woodbury & Standish as of counsel until returning to solo practice in 2010. She practiced domestic relations and civil litigation at her own private practice until her election to the bench.

Her memberships have included the Supreme Court Committee on Nevada Rules of Civil Procedure and the Family Law Section of the State Bar of Nevada.

Smith served as a volunteer attorney for the Clark County Legal Services’ Pro Bono Project.
