Biography

Hon. David R. Workman is a judge for the Lancaster County Court of Common Pleas in Pennsylvania. He was elected to the bench in 2003.

Prior to joining the judiciary, Workman was a partner in Blakinger, Byler & Thomas, a position he had held since 1989. His areas of practice included family law and adoptions.

Workman received a B.S. in political science from Pennsylvania State University and an M.S. in judicial administration from the University of Denver School of Law (1978). He then spent the next several years working as director of the Lancaster County Domestic Relations Office, a court administrator in Schuylkill County, and an assistant court administrator in Lancaster County before completing a J.D. at Delaware Law School of Widener University in 1989.

His memberships have included the American Bar Association, the Federal Judicial Nominating Commission, the Lancaster County Bar Association, the Pennsylvania Bar Association, the Juvenile Court Judges’ Commission (vice-chair), the National Council of Juvenile and Family Court Judges, and the Pennsylvania Conference of State Trial Judges (Family Law Section chairman). He also sat as a board member for Kids Deserve a Chance.

Workman, who was born in Lancaster, is married and has four children.

He is registered as a Republican.
