The Hon. David R. Navarro is a circuit judge of the Pretrial Division of the Circuit Court of Cook County. He was elected to the bench in 2018.
Before pursuing a legal career, Navarro graduated with a B.A. in 1990 from the University of Chicago. He then went on to earn his J.D. in 1993 from the University of Iowa College of Law.
After earning a law degree, Navarro worked as an assistant state’s attorney for the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office from 1994 to 2009. He then was hired as an assistant attorney general for the Illinois Attorney General’s Office. He served in that position from 2009 until 2017 when he took the bench seat of the Pretrial Division.
In addition to his services to the court, Navarro is on the board of the Hispanic Lawyers Association of Illinois. He also serves as an adjunct professor at the Loyola University Chicago School of Law, John Marshall Law School, and the Conference Western of Attorney Generals. Navarro is also a former president of the National Hispanic Prosecutors Bar Association.
In his free time, Navarro enjoys marathons, triathlons, and other running-type races.
Navarro is a registered Democrat.
