Biography

The Hon. David P. Sullivan is a justice on the Nassau County Supreme Court in the 10th Judicial District of New York. He was elected to the bench on November 5, 2019.

Prior to his election, Sullivan was a judge on the Nassau County District Court, a position to which he was elected in 2013. Before that, he spent time as a judge on the Nassau County Court (2003 to 2012), holding temporary assignments on the Nassau County Family Court (2003 to 2006) and the Nassau County Supreme Court (2003 to 2012).

Sullivan earned a B.A. from Fordham University in 1985. He then completed a J.D. at Fordham University School of Law in 1988. He was licensed to practice in New York (1989).

After graduating from law school, Sullivan began his legal career as an assistant district attorney with the Nassau County District Attorney’s Office. He served in that capacity until 1995, at which time he became a principal law clerk to the Hon. Donald E. Belfi of the Nassau County Court. During this time, Sullivan also sat as an associate justice (1997 to 1998) and a justice (1998 to 2002) on the New Hyde Park Village Court.

He is registered as a Democrat.
