Biography

The Hon. David P. Chamberlain is a judge for the 7th Judicial Circuit Court of Missouri. He was appointed to the bench by Governor Mike Parson on January 3, 2019, filling a vacancy created by the retirement of the Hon. Larry Harman.

Prior to his appointment, Chamberlain was an associate judge for the 7th Judicial Circuit, a position to which he was named in 2008.

Chamberlain earned a bachelor’s degree in economics from Missouri State University in 1985. He then completed a J.D. at the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Law in 1989. As a law student, he clerked at Morris & Foust (1987 to 1989) and Niewald, Waldeck, Norris & Brown (1989).

He has been admitted to practice in Missouri (1989), Kansas (1991), the United States District Court for the Western District of Missouri, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit.

After graduating from law school, Chamberlain entered into private practice, working as an associate at Patton & Associates in Liberty. During his tenure there, he rose through the ranks, eventually becoming a partner at Patton & Chamberlain. He represented defendants in criminal matters and plaintiffs in civil matters, supplementing his practice with domestic relations cases.

His memberships have included the Clay County Bar Association and the Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Association. He has also been involved with the Liberty Sertoma Club (president), the Advisory Board of the Freedom House, and the Board of Triality.

Chamberlain was born in Cambridge, Nebraska. His family attends Shoal Creek Church.
