Judge David L. Edwards - Professional Background & Legal Expertise

Biography

Hon. David L. Edwards is a judge for the Grays Harbor County Superior Court in Washington. He was appointed to the bench by former Governor Chris Gregoire in December 2007 to fill the vacancy created by the retirement of the Hon. David Foscue (Ret.).

At the time of his appointment, Edwards had practiced as a partner in Edwards & Hagen, P.S. for thirteen years.

Before joining the firm, he worked for two years as the chief criminal deputy prosecutor for the Grays Harbor Prosecuting Attorney’s Office (1976 to 1978). Edwards began his legal career at the Prosecuting Attorney’s Office in 1974.

He received a B.S. from Illinois State University in 1970. Edwards then completed a J.D. at the University of Illinois College of Law in 1974.

In addition to his work as an attorney, he taught business and constitutional law for several years as an instructor at Grays Harbor College (1974 to 1980).

Edwards was a past president of the Grays Harbor Bar Association and also held memberships with the Washington State Bar Association, the American Bar Association, the Washington State Trial Lawyers Association, the American Trial Lawyers Association, and the Defense Research Institute.

His civic involvement has included the YMCA of Grays Harbor Endowment Association (trustee), the YMCA of Grays Harbor (board member and past president), the City of Aberdeen Parks Board, the Aberdeen Little League (board member), the Twins Harbor Scout Council, and the United Way of Grays Harbor.

Edwards was also a scoutmaster for the McDermoth Elementary School Cub Scouts and a volunteer for the Alexander Young Elementary School P.T.O.

He was named Best Attorney in Twin Harbors by The Daly World newspaper in 2005.

At the time of his appointment, Edwards resided in Aberdeen with his wife, Kim.
