Biography

The Hon. David C. Hagerman is a judge for the 297th District Court in Tarrant County, Texas. He was elected to the bench in 2014 and re-elected in 2018 and 2022.

Hagerman earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting from North Texas State University in 1980. He spent the next several years working as an audit, tax, and real estate accountant for large national accounting firms before completing a J.D. at South Texas College of Law.

After graduating from law school, Hagerman began his legal career as an assistant district attorney for the Ellis County District Attorney’s Office. He served in that capacity until 1993, at which time he transferred to the Tarrant County District Attorney’s Office.

Born in Dallas, Texas, Hagerman was raised in Oak Cliff, where he attended David W. Carter High School. His father, a veteran of the Second World War, serviced planes used in the Vietnam War at Vought Aircraft in Grand Prairie. His mother worked for the public school system in Dallas, eventually becoming a secretary for the president of First Texas Savings and Loan. Hagerman and his wife, Theresa, have two children.

He is registered as a Republican.
