Judge Daniel L. Goodell: Professional Background and Legal Expertise

Biography

Hon. Daniel L. Goodell is a judge for the Mason County Superior Court in Washington. He was appointed to the bench by Governor Jay Inslee in 2014 to fill a newly created position.

At the time of his appointment, Goodell was a principal at Goodell Law, Inc., where he had practiced since 1994. The law firm had offices in Belfair and Shelton and its practice included family law, civil litigation, real estate law and business law as well as criminal defense representation in misdemeanor cases.

Before opening his law firm, Goodell sat as a pro tem judge for the Mason County District Court and the Shelton Municipal Court (1997 to 2002).

He received a B.A. from Washington State University in 1979. Goodell then completed a J.D. at the University of Puget Sound School of Law in 1984.

He was a member of the Board of Directors of the Thurston County Volunteer Legal Services and a trustee/treasurer of the Mason County Bar Association.

An active member of his community, Goodell was a founding member of the Boys and Girls Club in Belfair and has volunteered his time with the North Mason Chamber of Commerce and On Paddle’s Wings (president), a youth kayak-building program.
