Biography

The Hon. Daniel G. Petrie is a judge for the Montgomery County Superior Court in Indiana. He was elected to the bench on November 3, 2020, filling a vacancy created by the retirement of the Hon. Peggy Lohorn.

Petrie is a founding member of the Montgomery County Veterans Court.

Prior to his election, Petrie was a partner at Henthorn Harris, Weliever & Petrie, a law firm he joined in 2010. During his tenure there, he handled public defense cases, supplementing his practice with probate, municipal, collections, and family law matters.

Petrie earned a bachelor’s degree in Spanish and religion from Wabash College in 2007. He then completed a J.D. at Indiana University, Robert H. McKinney School of Law in 2010.

His memberships have included the Montgomery County Youth Services Bureau, the Montgomery County Bar Association, and the Crawfordsville Rotary Club. He has also been involved with the boards of Crawfordsville Main Street, the Boys & Girls Club of Montgomery County, Montgomery County Economic Development, and Christian Nursing Service.

Raised in Montgomery County, Petrie graduated from Crawfordsville High School. He and his family attended First Christian Church.

He is registered as a Republican.
