Biography

Hon. Cindy H. Truong is a district judge for the Oklahoma County District Court (District 7) in Oklahoma. She was elected to the bench on November 2, 2010.

During her judicial tenure, Truong has presided over the Civil, Criminal Felony Crime, and Family Domestic Dockets.

Prior to joining the bench, she spent ten years as a criminal prosecutor with the Oklahoma County District Attorney’s Office. During that time, Truong was tasked with prosecuting cases involving rape, robbery, drug trafficking, and the Death Penalty. She is credited with handling over fifty jury trials to verdict. She also worked as a defense attorney with the Oklahoma County Public Defender’s Office.

Truong received a B.S. in economics from Oklahoma State University, finishing her degree in three years while also working at her parent's convenience store on the weekends. She went on to complete a J.D. at Oklahoma City University School of Law in 2001.

Truong was born in Vietnam, where her father was a ranking officer in the South Vietnamese Army. He was later forced to leave the country with the United States Military during the fall of Saigon, though his family remained in Vietnam. Truong immigrated with her mother and siblings to the United States in 1986. Though she was unable to speak English at the time, Truong went on to graduate valedictorian of her class at Mustang High School.

She and her husband, Kevin, have one son.
