Biography

The Hon. Christopher W. Pole (Ret.) is a senior judge for the Broward County Court in Florida. He was appointed to the bench by former Governor Rick Scott in June 2012. Pole retired in 2020 and joined Medair, Inc. as an attorney.


He held assignments in the Civil and Criminal Divisions.


Prior to his appointment, Pole had managed his own private practice since 1988, where he specialized in PIP law, personal injury, civil, commitment defense, and criminal law matters. Before establishing his law firm, he was an associate at Conroy, Simberg & Lews, P.A. and in-house counsel at AIG Insurance Company. Pole was certified as a criminal trial attorney by The Florida Bar (1993 to 2019).


He also taught as an adjunct professor of law at Nova University Center for the Study of Law.


He received a bachelor’s degree in physical therapy from the Medical College of Georgia in 1973. Pole then worked as a registered physical therapist in Broward County (1973 to 1984) before completing a J.D. at Nova Southeastern University, Shepard Broad College of Law, in 1980. He was admitted to practice in Florida (1981), the United States District Court for the Southern and Middle Districts of Florida (1983), and Colorado (1988).


After graduating from law school, Pole began his legal career as an assistant state attorney with the Broward County State Attorney’s Office, where he served as the DUI and Felony Division supervisor and as a prosecutor in the Narcotics and Drug Trafficking Division. He remained with the office until 1985.


His memberships include the Broward County Bar Association.


Pole received the Harry Gulkin Award in 2013.


He was born and raised in Broward County.
