Biography

The Hon. Christopher T. McGrath is a justice on the Nassau County Supreme Court in the 10th Judicial District of New York. He was elected to the bench on November 7, 2023.

Prior to his election, McGrath was a senior partner at Sullivan Papain Block McGrath & Cannavo, a personal injury practice in Garden City. He joined the firm, previously named Sullivan Papain, in 1983.

McGrath earned a B.S. from St. John's University in 1980. He then completed a J.D. at the University of Dayton School of Law in 1983. He was licensed to practice in New York (1984). He is also board certified in civil trial advocacy by the National Board of Trial Advocacy.

His memberships have included the Nassau County Bar Association and the Million Dollar Advocate Forum. He has also been involved with the Grievance Committee for the 10th Judicial District, and he has served on the New York State Judicial Screening Commission.

He is a recipient of the St. Thomas More Award from the Catholic Lawyers Guild (2012) and the Attorney Professionalism Award from the New York State Bar Association (2012).

McGrath was a resident of Hewlett, New York, at the time of his election.
