Biography

Hon. Christopher S. Brasher is a judge for the Fulton County Superior Court (5th Judicial Administrative District) in Georgia. He was elected to the bench in 2006.

During his judicial tenure, Brasher was named chief judge of the Fulton County Superior Court and the Atlanta Judicial Circuit in January 2020.

Prior to his election, he was a senior assistant attorney general assigned to the Public Safety Section of the Georgia Attorney General’s Office, a position he held since 1997. Brasher first joined the office as an assistant attorney general in 1995.

Before that, he worked for four years as an assistant district attorney for the Alcovy Judicial Circuit (1991 to 1995).

Over the course of his legal career, Brasher gained appellate practice experience, having had oral arguments on multiple cases before the Georgia Supreme Court and the Georgia Court of Appeals as well as arguments before the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals and an oral argument before the United States Supreme Court in 2000.

He received a B.A. in political science and government from Furman University in 1987. Brasher went on to complete a J.D. at Georgia State University College of Law in 1991.

He has held memberships with the Criminal Justice Coordinating Council of Georgia, the Georgia Crime Victims Compensation Commission (chairman), the North Fulton Bar Association (board member), the Lamar Inn of Court, Emory University (Master), the Atlanta Bar Association, and the Lawyers Club of Atlanta.
