Judge Christine E. Arendas: Professional Background and Legal Expertise

Biography

The Hon. Christine E. Arendas is a judge for the Osceola County Court in Florida. She was elected to the bench in 2018.

Prior to her election, Arendas worked as an adoption attorney for CPLS (2017 to 2019) and the Adoption, Surrogacy & Family Law Firm (2014 to 2019). She also spent time as the agency attorney for A Chosen Child, Inc. (2012 to 2017).

Arendas earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration and economics from the University of Central Florida in 2002. She spent the next several years working as a paralegal before completing a J.D. at Barry University, Dwayne O. Andreas School of Law, in 2006.

She is admitted to practice in Florida (2006), the United States District Court for the Middle District of Florida (2008), and the United States Supreme Court (2017). She is also certified in Adoption Law by the Florida Bar.

After graduating from law school, Arendas entered into private practice, specializing in adoption, surrogacy, guardianship, probate, and family law matters. She started in the Law Office of Mercedes R. Wechsler. Then, in 2008, she opened her own private practice as a sole practitioner. She supplemented her practice with service as of counsel to the Law Office of Patricia L. Strowbridge (2010 to 2012).

Her memberships have included the Orange County Bar Association, the Osceola County Bar Association, the Central Florida Association for Women Lawyers (president), and the League of Women Voters. She also sat on the Board of Directors for the Community Hope Center, IDignity Osceola, the Legal Aid Society of Osceola, the Florida Adoption Council, the Central Florida Family Law Inns of Court, and the Osceola Council on Aging.

She is a recipient of the Leadership Award from IDignity Osceola (2018) as well as the Carol Draper Teen Court Pro Bono Volunteer of the Year Award (2015) and the Osceola County Teen Court Adult Volunteer of the Year Award (2012).

Arendas was raised in Central Florida. Her family moved to Osceola County in 2006, where her husband, Kurt, was assigned as a state law enforcement officer.
