Biography

The Hon. Christi L. Underwood (Ret.) served as a judge for the 9th Judicial Circuit Court of Florida. Underwood was appointed to the bench by former Governor Rick Scott in 2013, filling a vacancy created by the resignation of the Hon. Frederic Rand Wallis. She retired in 2018.

The 9th Judicial Circuit encompasses Osceola County and Orange County. Underwood held assignments in both counties.

Prior to her appointment, Underwood worked as an attorney in private practice, specializing in construction-related matters. She began her legal career as an associate at Maguire, Voorhis & Wells in 1989. Three years later, she moved to Foley & Lardner, where she practiced until 2002. At that time, she started her own private practice as a sole practitioner.

Underwood earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Florida. She received a general contractor's license and worked in the construction business before completing a J.D. at the University of Florida, Fredric G. Levin College of Law, in 1988.

Born and raised in Ocala, Florida, Underwood is the daughter of L.D. Underwood, Jr., a construction superintendent for Drake Contracting.
