Biography

The Hon. Charles E. Montemayor is an associate judge for the Bexar County Children’s Court in Texas. He was appointed to the bench in 2005, filling a vacancy created by the elevation of the Hon. Peter A. Sakai to its presiding judgeship.

Montemayor earned a bachelor’s degree in political science and philosophy from Southern Methodist University in 1988. Then, in 1991, he completed a J.D. at St. Mary's University School of Law.

After graduating from law school, Montemayor began his legal career as an associate in the commercial litigation section of Karam, Naranjo & Kruger. Two years later, he joined the San Antonio Community Law Center, where he spent the next twelve years representing the working poor in a variety of legal matters.

Born and raised in San Antonio, Montemayor is the youngest of four brothers. He attended St. Paul's Catholic Elementary School and Antonian College Preparatory High School.
