Biography

The Hon. C. Brian McDonald (Ret.) served as an associate justice for the Hampden County Superior Court in Massachusetts. McDonald was appointed to the bench by former Governor Bill Weld in 1997. He retired in 2011.


Prior to his appointment, McDonald worked as a partner at Bulkley, Richardson & Gelinas (1988 to 1997). Before that, he spent several years as an Assistant United States Attorney. He sat as the First Assistant United States Attorney in the Office of the United States Attorney for the Southern District of Florida (1980 to 1982) as well as Chief of the Springfield Unit in the Office of the United States Attorney for the District of Massachusetts (1982 to 1988).


McDonald earned a bachelor’s degree from Union College in 1963. He then completed a J.D. at Georgetown University Law School in 1968.


He was born in Rhinebeck, New York. His son, Christopher McDonald, has served as an assistant district attorney in the Hampden County District Attorney’s Office.
