Biography

Hon. C. Brent Dishman is a district judge for the Oklahoma County District Court (District 7) in Oklahoma. He was appointed to the bench by Governor Kevin Stitt in 2021, filling the vacancy created by the resignation of the Hon. Tim Henderson (Ret).

During his judicial tenure, Dishman has presided over a Civil Docket.

At the time of his appointment, he was the Assistant Dean of Student Affairs at the University of Oklahoma College of Law, a position he held since 2017.

Dishman attended the United States Air Force Academy, where he received a B.S. in political science in 2000. He subsequently served on active duty or as a reservist after graduating from the Air Force Academy. Dishman first served as an aircraft maintenance officer in the United States Air Force for two years before completing a J.D. at the University of Oklahoma College of Law in 2005.

After graduating from law school, he returned to the Air Force as an assistant staff judge advocate in the JAG Corps, serving as a prosecutor and defense counsel as well as holding several leadership roles. During that time, Dishman was Chief of Military Justice, Chief of Adverse Actions, Chief of Discharges, Chief of Claims, and Chief of Medical Claims. He also served in Texas as area defense counsel tasked with defending Airmen at Lackland Air Force Base (2008 to 2009) and as senior defense counsel at Sheppard Air Force Base (2009 to 2012).

At the time of his appointment, Dishman was the Senior JAG Reserve attorney assigned to the 12th Air Force Headquarters at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base in Arizona. He held the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.

In his civilian legal career, he was the founder of Dishman Military Advocates, where he represented service members facing adverse actions such as court-martial, involuntary discharge, nonjudicial punishment, and evaluation board hearings. He began the practice in 2012 and remained in that capacity until becoming Assistant Dean for the University of Oklahoma.
