Biography

The Hon. Brooke A. Blecher is a judge for the Santa Clara County Superior Court in California. She was appointed to the bench by Governor Gavin Newsom on April 28, 2020, filling a vacancy created by the retirement of the Hon. Patrick Tondreau.

Prior to her appointment, Blecher served as a court commissioner for the Santa Clara County Superior Court. She was selected to the position on August 27, 2018.

Blecher earned a B.A. from the University of California, Santa Barbara. She briefly attended Pepperdine School of Law before transferring to the University of Arizona, James E. Rogers College of Law, where she completed her J.D.

After graduating from law school, Blecher entered into private practice. She first worked as an attorney at Olimpia, Whelan, Lively & Ryan (2000 to 2004) and Madden & Redding (2004 to 2008). She then worked as a Certified Family Law Specialist at Blecher & Hubbell. Over the course of her career in private practice, she handled move-away cases, post-judgment modifications, complex and large-assets matters, child and spousal support cases, custody matters, and dissolutions.

She has been a member of the Santa Clara County Bar Association, where she has served on its Family Law Executive Committee, its Education Committee, as well as its San Jose Regional Standing Committee on Legislation. She has also sat on the Board of Directors of the Addison Penzak Jewish Community Center.

Blecher is married with two children. When she is not presiding over cases, she enjoys running, reading, and spending time at the beach.

She is registered as a Democrat.
