Biography

Hon. Belinda E. Edwards is a judge for the Fulton County Superior Court (5th Judicial Administrative District) in Georgia. She joined the Superior Court bench in 2017.

Edwards began her judicial career as a judge for the Fulton County Juvenile Court in 2005 (2005 to 2012). During her tenure on the Juvenile Court, she served as its chief judge from 2008 to 2012. She was also instrumental in establishing the Juvenile Drug Court and Teen Court Programs.

Edwards received a B.A. in economics from Stanford University and an M.B.A. in finance and accounting from Columbia University. She went on to complete a J.D. at Georgia State University College of Law in 1990.

Edwards also spent time as a certified arbitrator and mediator at Hollowell Foster & Herring PC and was an administrative hearing officer for the Georgia Department of Community Affairs.

In addition, her legal career included serving as general counsel at Morris Brown College, a senior attorney for Atlanta Public Schools, and an assistant city attorney and former senior financial analyst for the City of Atlanta.

Edwards has held memberships with the American Bar Association, the Atlanta Bar Association, the Gate City Bar Association, the Georgia Association of Black Women Attorneys, the State Bar of Georgia, the State Bar of California, Alpha Kappa Alpha, Inc., and the Junior League of Atlanta, Inc.

Edwards is a native of Atlanta, Georgia. She is a graduate of Leadership Atlanta, Class of 2007.
