Judge Barbara McDaniel: Professional Background and Legal Expertise

Hon. Barbara McDaniel (Ret.) was a commissioner for the Los Angeles County Superior Court in California. She was elected to the bench by the Los Angeles County Superior Court judges in 2015. McDaniel retired in 2019.

Prior to joining the bench, she was a deputy alternate public defender with the Los Angeles County Alternate Public Defender’s Office (1994 to 2015).

McDaniel received a B.S. in political science from the City University of New York. She went on to complete a J.D. at Western State College of Law.

McDaniel has taught evidence as an adjunct professor at Pacific Coast University School of Law since 2007 and served as its interim dean in 2020.
