Biography

The Hon. Barbara A. Kronlund is a judge for the San Joaquin County Superior Court in California. She was appointed to the bench by former Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger in 2005. She filled the vacancy created by the retirement of the Hon. Michael N. Garrigan (Ret.).

She is a registered Republican.

Judge Kronlund received her B.A. from Pepperdine University in 1985. She went on to earn her J.D. from the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law in 1989.

Kronlund served as an intern for the Sacramento County District Attorney's Office before accepting a full-time position there as a deputy district attorney. In 1990, she became a deputy for the San Joaquin County District Attorney's Office. During her tenure as a deputy district attorney, Kronlund served as a supervisor of the Child Abuse and Sexual Assault Unit. She remained with the San Joaquin County District Attorney's Office until 1995, when she was selected to serve as a court commissioner for the San Joaquin County Superior Court. Kronlund was serving in that capacity at the time of her appointment to the bench in 2005.

While on the bench, Judge Kronlund was instrumental in helping to establish a Veterans Court in San Joaquin County and has presided over the Superior Court's National Adoption Day. She has also served as a Supervising Civil Judge in the Civil Division and has presided over the Homeless Court which convenes at St. Mary's Interfaith Community Services.

She has been a member of the California Judges Association.

Judge Kronlund grew up in Fair Oaks, California. Her father held a Ph.D. in microbiology and her mother was an electronics engineer at McClellan Air Force Base.
