Judge Auden C. Grogins: Professional Background and Legal Expertise

Hon. Auden C. Grogins is a judge for the Waterbury Judicial District Superior Court in Connecticut. She was appointed to the bench by former Governor Dannel Malloy in 2015.

During her judicial tenure, Grogins has presided on the Juvenile Court in the Waterbury Judicial District.

Prior to joining the bench, she had served as a member of the Connecticut House of Representatives (129th District) since being elected to the seat in 2008. As a state representative, Grogins served as Deputy Majority Leader and sat as a member of the Education, Judiciary, Legislative Management, and Planning and Development Committees.

She also managed her own private sole practice, where her practice included criminal law and appeals, personal injury law, family law, real estate, contract, and employment matters.

Grogins also served as a member of the Bridgeport City Council and the Bridgeport Board of Education (past president).

She received a B.S. from the State University of New York, Fashion Institute of Technology in 1985. Grogins went on to complete a J.D. at the University of Bridgeport Law School (now Quinnipiac University School of Law) in 1989.

She is admitted to practice in Connecticut, the United States District Court for the District of Connecticut, the District of Columbia (1991), and the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit (1991).

Grogins was born in Bridgeport, Connecticut.

She is registered as a Democrat.
