The Hon. Armenui Amy Ashvanian is a judge for the Los Angeles County Superior Court in California. She was appointed to the bench in 2018 by former Governor Jerry Brown. She filled the vacancy created by the retirement of the Hon. George Genesta (Ret.).
She is a registered Democrat.
Judge Ashvanian received her A.S. from Glendale Community College. She went on to earn her J.D. from Glendale University College of Law in 2004.
After graduating from law school, Ashvanian became an associate at the law firm of Yeghiayan and Associates for one year.
Then, in 2005, she joined the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office, where she would serve as a deputy district attorney for thirteen years. During her time there, she was assigned to the Hardcore Gang Division. She also participated in a training program sponsored by the U.S. State Department in which she assisted countries overseas in their efforts to reform their criminal justice systems.
She is the recipient of the Michael Noyes Humanitarian Award, the Most Valuable Prosecutor Award, the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Excellence in Leadership Award, and the Association of Deputy District Attorney's Outstanding Prosecutor Award.
Judge Ashvanian has taught as an adjunct professor at her alma mater Glendale University College of Law and also served as an instructor for the Los Angeles Police Academy where she taught a gang awareness class.
She has been a member of the Armenian Bar Association.
She also presided over mock trials hosted by the Armenian General Benevolent Union for students at Manoukian High School.
