Judge Anne E. Minihan: Professional Background and Legal Expertise

Biography

The Hon. Anne E. Minihan is a justice on the Westchester County Supreme Court in the 9th Judicial District of New York. She was elected to the bench on November 8, 2022.

The 9th Judicial District encompasses Dutchess, Orange, Putnam, Rockland, and Westchester counties. Over the course of her judicial career, Minihan has held assignments as the Administrative Judge for the 9th Judicial District.

Prior to her election, Minihan was a judge on the Westchester County Court, a position to which she was elected in 2014. Before that, she spent time as a principal court attorney for the Hon. J. Emmett Murphy of the Westchester County Supreme Court (2010 to 2014), a court attorney referee for the 9th Judicial District (2007 to 2010), and a principal court attorney for the Hon. Robert A. Spolzino of the Supreme Court of the State of New York Appellate Division (2006 to 2007).

Minihan earned a B.A. from Pace University in 1989. She then completed a J.D. at Pace University, Elisabeth Haub School of Law, in 1992. She is licensed to practice in New York (1994) and Connecticut (1992).

After graduating from law school, Minihan began her legal career as an assistant district attorney with the Westchester County District Attorney’s Office. She served in that capacity until 1999.

Her memberships have included the Westchester Women’s Bar Association. She has also been involved with the Westchester Youth Police Academy.

Raised in Ossining, New York, Miniham has resided in Croton-on-Hudson for over two decades.

She is registered as a Democrat.
