Judge Anna R. Anzalone - Professional Background & Legal Expertise

Biography

The Hon. Anna R. Anzalone is a Justice of the Nassau County Supreme Court in the Tenth Judicial District of New York. She was first elected to the Supreme Court in 2015. Justice Anzalone served as a Presiding Judge of the Treatment Court for drugs and alcohol in Nassau County beginning in 2006. She also presided over the Veterans’ Treatment Court beginning in 2012. Justice Anzalone joined Nassau County in 2004 when she was elected to serve as a judge for the District Court. She was subsequently re-elected to the post in 2010. She was then appointed in 2011, by the Hon. Ann Pfau, former Chief Administrative Judge of the State of New York, to serve as an acting judge for the Nassau County Court.

She is registered as a Republican.

Justice Anzalone received her B.A. from Hofstra University. She went on to earn her J.D. from Touro College Jacob D. Fuchsberg Law Center.

Anzalone had a six-year stint in private practice from 1988 to 1994.

She then entered the public arena, where she would remain for the bulk of her legal career. She joined the Nassau County Bureau of Real Estate as a deputy court attorney in 1994. Two years later, Anzalone then became a hearing officer for the Nassau County Office of Labor Relations, a position she would hold until 1998.

She became an assistant attorney general with the New York State Department of Law at that time. The following year, Anzalone became a principal law clerk with the New York State Unified Court System and remained in that capacity until 2000.

Her memberships have included the Nassau Lawyers Association, the Order Sons of Italy, Aida Lodge, and Kiwanis International. She is also a past-president of the Columbian Lawyers Association of Nassau County.
