Biography

The Hon. Ann M. Lininger is a judge for the 5th Judicial District Circuit Court of Oregon. She was appointed to the bench by former Governor Kate Brown on July 12, 2017.

The 5th Judicial District encompasses Clackamas County.

Prior to her appointment, Lininger was a program officer at the Meyer Memorial Trust. She also spent time as an attorney for Legal Aid Services of Oregon, Oregon Iron Works, Buckley Law, and the Metropolitan Public Defender.

Lininger earned a bachelor’s degree from Yale University. She then completed a J.D. at New York University School of Law.

After graduating from law school, Lininger began her legal career as a judicial law clerk for the United States District Court and the United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit. She later relocated to Colorado, working as an attorney at Earthjustice and Hogan Lovells.

Her memberships have included the Clackamas County Board of Commissioners. She has also been involved with the Local Public Safety Coordinating Council for Clackamas County and Oregon’s Opioid Settlement Prevention, Treatment & Recovery Board.

A resident of Portland, Oregon, Lininger and her husband, David, have two children.

She is registered as a Democrat. Lininger represented the 38th District as a member of the Oregon House of Representatives (2014 to 2017). During her tenure there, she co-chaired a joint legislative committee to oversee the implementation of Ballot Measure 91, which legalized marijuana. She also sat on the House Judiciary Committee, the House Revenue Committee, and the House Economic Development & Trade Committee.
