Judge Angela R. Kircher: Professional Background and Legal Expertise

The Hon. Angela R. Kircher is a judge for the Coconino County Superior Court in Arizona. She was appointed to the bench by Governor Doug Ducey on March 1, 2019.

Prior to her appointment, Kircher was a deputy county attorney with the Coconino County Attorney’s Office, a position to which she was named in 2012. During her tenure there, she prosecuted juvenile cases as well as adult sex offenders. She was also instrumental in developing juvenile diversion programs.

Kircher earned a bachelor’s degree in social work from Arizona State University in 1996. She spent the next several years working with elderly populations as well as patients and families facing death-related challenges before completing a J.D. at the University of Idaho College of Law in 2004.

After graduating from law school, Kircher began her legal career as a judicial law clerk to the Hon. Larry M. Boyle of the United States District Court for the District of Idaho. Shortly after, she relocated to Arizona and entered into private practice. She started at Mangum, Wall, Stoops & Warden in Flagstaff, handling estate planning, school law, and family law.

Then, in 2007, Kircher joined the Coconino County Attorney's Office. As a deputy county attorney, she held assignments in the Juvenile Division. However, her time there was brief. The following year, she transferred to the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office, where she became the sole prosecutor responsible for charging and prosecuting all sexual offenses committed by juveniles in Maricopa County.

Born in Arizona, Kircher was raised in Denver, Colorado, and Boise, Idaho, where she attended Capital High School.
