Biography

Hon. Andrew S. Williams is a judge for the Allen County Superior Court in Indiana. He was appointed to the bench by Governor Eric Holcomb in

2020, filling the vacancy created by the retirement of the Hon. Nancy Eshcoff Boyer (Ret.).

Williams has held an assignment in the Civil Division and serves as the mental health judge in Allen County. As such, he is tasked with issuing emergency detention orders for mental health evaluations and making determinations on Petitions for Involuntary Commitments. Williams is also responsible for overseeing the Court’s Mental Health Task Force, where he works alongside local law enforcement, mental healthcare providers, and community mental health advocates.

Prior to his appointment, he was a partner at Hunt Suedhoff Kalamaros, LLP. Williams joined the Fort Wayne law firm in 2002 and was elevated to partner in 2010. His practice included insurance defense litigation, state and federal civil rights, products liability, construction law, medical malpractice, personal injury, municipality law, administrative law, probate, family law, and appellate law. Williams also appeared before the Indiana Supreme Court, the Indiana Court of Appeals, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit.

He received a bachelor’s degree from Ball State University in 1995. Williams then worked for three years as a juvenile probation officer in Grant County (1996 to 1999) before completing a J.D. at Baylor Law School in 2001. While a law student, he was Senior Editor of the Baylor University Law Review and a Moot Court Barrister.

Williams was admitted to practice in Texas (2002), Indiana (2002), and the United States District Courts for the Northern and Southern Districts of Indiana (2002).

He has been recognized as an Indiana Super Lawyer Rising-Star (2012 and 2013) and an Indiana Super Lawyer (2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, and 2018).

Williams is a past president of the Allen County Bar Association and its New Lawyers Section and a past board secretary of the Allen County Bar Foundation. He also served as a member and Master of the Benjamin Harrison Inns of Court and chair of the Parkview YMCA Board of Directors.

He has resided in Fort Wayne, Indiana, with his wife, Kim, since 2002. They have three sons.
