Biography

The Hon. Amy N. Carter is a judge for the Los Angeles County Superior Court in California. She was elected to the bench in the June 2014 election.

Judge Carter received her bachelor's degree and her J.D. from the University of Iowa.

Prior to winning her election bid to the Superior Court, Carter served as a deputy district attorney for the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office for 15 years. During her time with the D.A.'s office, she prosecuted sex crimes. Before becoming a prosecutor she served briefly at the Los Angeles County Counsel Office.

In 2012 Carter was named the Deputy District Attorney of the Month by the Association of Deputy District Attorneys.
