The Honorable Allan D. Hardcastle

Biography

The Hon. Allan D. Hardcastle is a judge for the Superior Court of Sonoma County in California. He was appointed to the bench by former Governor Pete Wilson in 1997.

Hardcastle earned a B.A. in political science from the University of the Pacific in 1977. He then continued his studies at the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law, completing a J.D. in 1979.

Prior to his appointment to the bench, Hardcastle was a managing partner at Babin, Seeger & Hardcastle, where he practiced as a civil trial attorney.

He served as President of the California Judges Association from 2012 to 2013. He has also served on the Board of Directors of the University of the Pacific Alumni Association.

Hardcastle was named Boss of the Year by the Sonoma County Legal Secretaries Association in 1989.

Over the course of his judicial career, he has presided over every division of the Superior Court of Sonoma County, except for its Family Law Division. He also served as a judge advocate for the Judge Advocate General Corps of the United States Army, where he presided over court martials. He retired from the United States Army in 2002, reaching the rank of lieutenant colonel after twenty-three years of service.

Hardcastle has taught Evidence and Remedies at Empire College School of Law.
