Biography

The Hon. Alexis A. Glendening is a judge for the Third Circuit Court in Michigan. She was appointed to the bench by former Governor Rick Snyder in 2014, filling a vacancy created by the resignation of the Hon. Jeanne Stempien.

Prior to her appointment, Glendening worked as an attorney in private practice. Over the course of her legal career, she gained extensive trial experience in juvenile court, handling delinquency, child neglect, and child abuse proceedings.

Glendening earned a bachelor’s degree from Michigan State University in 1976. She then completed a J.D. at Detroit College of Law in 1980.

Her memberships have included the boards of the Juvenile Court Trial Lawyers Association and Court-Appointed Special Advocates. She has also been involved with the Junior League’s Task Force Against Domestic Violence as well as Services for Older Citizens.

A third-generation immigrant, Glendening was raised in a household with strong Greek traditions. Her husband, Wallace, works as an attorney.
