MRS L 000700-19 08/20/2020 Pg 1 of 1 Trans ID: LCV20201467487 Morris/Sussex Vicinage – Superior Court Susan Chait Renita McKinney Trial Court Administrator Civil Division Manager www.njcourts.com • phone: 862-397-5700 • fax: 973-656-4104 August 20, 2020 As you may know, the Court is conducting certain proceedings virtually during this pandemic. In that regard, your trial date is approaching. To maximize the efficiency of virtual appearances, please let us know (1) if the case can settle with a conference on the scheduled trial date and (2) whether the parties would agree to waive the jury demand and proceed with a bench trial. If the case cannot be settled and the parties cannot consent to a waiver of the jury demand, we will adjourn the trial to another date. If there is a meaningful opportunity for settlement or the parties can agree to waive the jury demand, Judge Ramsay will proceed with a conference on the upcoming trial date via Zoom. All counsel/parties should confer about the possibility of settlement and/or waiver of the jury demand. Please submit a joint letter by the Wednesday preceding the scheduled trial date to (1) request an adjournment of the trial (i.e., settlement unlikely), (2) agreeing to waiver of the jury demand and providing an agreed on date for a bench trial, or (3) confirming that settlement would be likely if a conference is scheduled on the trial date. The conferences will address only settlement. It is not a case management conference. If you want to proceed with a conference on the scheduled trial date, you must include the names of the attorneys that will be participating in the conference along with an email address and a contact telephone number for each party to the conference. Thank you for your cooperation. Very Truly Yours, /s/ Renita McKinney Renita McKinney Civil Division Manager Superior Court of New Jersey – Morris/Sussex Vicinage • PO Box 910 • Morristown, NJ 07963-0910
