P 16 LING YI LUI Pursuant to the Superior Court Third Amended Standing Order No.: 1-88 A ("The concept of early and continuous judicial supervision and control is intended to enhance the quality of itigation and ensure that justice is fairly rendered"), Mass. R. Civ. P. 16, and GL. c. 212, section 3A (b) (as amended by section 3 of Chapter 252 of the Acts of 2004), counsel or the parties to this action shall appear in person for a Litigation Control Conference on Tuesday, September 27. 2016, at 2:00 pm in the Middlesex Superior Courthouse, 200 TradeCenter — Courtroom 520, Civil Session “FH”, Woburn, Massachusetts 01801. Agenda. The purpose of the Litigation Control Conference is to: (1) establish a discovery schedule and final pretrial conference and trial dates, with counsels’ assent. (To this end, counsel shall confer with each otherin advance of the Conference to agree, to the extent possible, on a discovery schedule and final preteial and trial dates); (2) discuss settlement opportunities; (3) offer alternative dispute resolution; (4) consider case management orders proposed by any party or by the court, regarding limitation ox sequencing or events, disclosure or limitation of expert witness, motion briefing, or other matters that may reduce the delay or the expense of (5) enter judgment for relief or dismissal or other appropriate orders; and/or litigation; and (6) assign a firm trial date. Discovery. The parties ate encouraged to respond meaningfully and completely to any appropriate outstanding discovery requests before the Litigation Control Conference in order to facilitate settlement discussion. Obligations of Counsel. Counsel shall serve any proposed case management orders and motions to opposing counsel in advance of the Litigation Control Conference. Counsel is not required to prepare any memorandum for the Litigation Control Conference. Continuances. A request for continuance of the Litigation Control Conference for good cause shall be in writing and shall list all dates duting the next 30 days that counsel is unavailable for this Conference. Medicare Lien (/fapplicable). The plaintiff's attorney is strongly encouraged to determine the amount of the Medicare lien as soon as possible to facilitate settlement. In this regard, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, also known as the Medicare Secondary Payor Recovery Services or MSRPC, repotts that it has established a website to expedite the processing of its claims.
