On April 26th, 2024, |, Officer Brian Fredette (ID 30), responded to 2700 Clearlake Road (Walmart Store),
Cocoa, Florida, in reference to a retail theft.
Cocoa Communications advised that Walmart staff stated a white male wearing a navy blue shirt, grey
shorts, and a black hat was in the store concealing items. Walmart advised they were going to attempt to
detain the male and are seeking criminal prosecution.
Upon arrival, | made contact with Walmart staff member Mr. George Ryan. Mr. Ryan advised the suspect
was leaving the general merchandise side. A white male wearing a navy blue shirt, grey shorts, and a black
hat then exited the general merchandise side. Mr. Ryan then confirmed it was the male. | then stopped the
male. The male was later identified as Mr. Trevor Armstrong.
Mr. Armstrong, myself, and Walmart staff, including Mr. Ryan, then walked to the loss prevention office.
Mr. Armstrong uttered that he had two pairs of shorts he was going to steal, but he left the items. Let it be
noted, | observed Mr. Armstrong pulling down the gray shorts at the bottom in a way to conceal clothing
underneath.
While in the office, Walmart staff reviewed surveillance footage, observing Mr. Armstrong selecting
multiple items of apparel. Mr. Armstrong then entered into the fitting room with said items. When exiting
the fitting room, Mr. Armstrong proceeded to put the selected items back on the clothing rack. Mr.
Armstrong then selected two (2) pairs of Wrangler shorts. Mr. Armstrong then entered into the fitting room
a second time. After a few moments, Mr. Armstrong exited the fitting room and proceeded toward his
shopping cart. On the surveillance footage, Walmart staff witnessed a Wrangler price tag sticking out of
the gray shorts Mr. Armstrong was wearing. Mr. Armstrong then proceeded to the general merchandise

exit, not paying for any items and passing all points of sale. Mr. Ryan then made contact with me, and |
detained the male they observed concealing said clothing.
Mr. Ryan wrote and signed an affidavit attesting to his statement. Also, Mr. Ryan advised he was seeking
criminal prosecution on behalf of Walmart.
Mr. Armstrong then pulled his gray shorts down, displaying two pairs of Wrangler shorts with tags still
attached.
Mr. Armstrong was arrested for retail theft.
Mr. Ryan turned over a sample receipt of the items taken. The receipt outlined two pairs of Wrangler shorts
with a total of said items taken was $49.96.
Mr. Ryan turned over a compact disc containing footage of the incident.
Cocoa Communications advised that Mr. Armstrong was currently on probation. | then conducted a
Probation status check via the Brevard County Clerk of Courts. Mr. Armstrong was placed on March 14th,
2024. Probation status is for twenty-four (24) months from 3/14/2024 with the condition that Mr. Armstrong
will live without violating the law. Probation status was in reference to Brevard County Case Number
05-2024-CF-011434-AXXX-BC,
Due to Mr. Armstrong committing theft, Mr. Armstrong is found in violation of his probationary status.

Mr. Armstrong's personal items were taken into custody with him and placed into the Cocoa Police
Department evidence division for safekeeping/return to the owner.
