This matter came before the Court on the motion of the Prosecuting Attorney for default
judgment on the petition of the Columbus Police Department and the Prosecuting Attorney to
forfeit $4,431.00 in U.S. Currency, pursuant to section 2981.02 and/or 2981.03 of the Ohio
Revised Code.
The Court finds that Defendant was served via Certified Mail on May 16, 2023. He mailed
an Answer to the Court which was dated June 6, 2023. Defendant’s Answer was not docketed until
June 28, 2023 because it was submitted to the court via regular mail rather than e-filed; however,
the Court finds that it was timely filed based on the date it was written.
IT IS THEREFORE ORDERED that the Plaintiff's Motion for Default Judgment is
DENIED
IT IS SO ORDERED.
